Obesity is a condition wherein excess fats on the body accumulate. It is considered as a long-term disease. This disease is epidemic in other countries especially in the United States. Most Americans are overweight. In fact more than half of Americans are in this stage. However, causes of obesity stem from a lot of reasons.
Causes of obesity don’t take account on genetic factors. Obesity is common in certain families even though genetic tendency can be overcome by healthy eating habits and regular diet and exercise. With children, however, genetics contributes factors that may cause them obesity issues. Children that were born with obesity favoring genes end up storing fats easily but some are naturally predisposed to being overweight.
The lifestyle of a person is one of the most common causes of becoming overweight. It’s been proven that people usually suffer from obesity by eating foods with high fats, calories, rich in sugar and carbohydrates. If this kind of lifestyle is combined with small amounts of exercise, this often results in an extreme overweight condition.
Psychological factors play a big role in causes of obesity. People with stressful lives overeat in order to escape from their pains. It is also seen that people tend to eat more when they are depressed, anxious and bored - the results of weight gain and obesity result from overeating that make depression and anxiety worse. This contributes to a vicious cycle of psychological causes of obesity. Same with some children that have a difficult time dealing with stress and anger, they deal with this unusual factor in their lives with the comfort of food.
Medical cases of underlying medical conditions contribute to developing obesity. This disease affects some glands like diabetes and hypothyroidism. Uses of definite medication like anti-psychotic, steroids, seizure medication, diabetes medication and antidepressants can positively cause obesity.
Environmental causes of obesity also plays big role in developing obesity. As many people all know, beliefs, attitude and habit begin at home. If a person grows in a family that practices eating unhealthy and fatty foods and doesn’t do regular exercise, the risk of having obesity is high and may remain until the stage of adulthood. Hence, educating children about bad eating habits could result to positive effects.
Lack of exercise is also considered as one reason for people to achieve obesity. People who spend a lot of time watching television, surfing the internet and playing video games are prone to developing obesity because fats in their bodies do not burn. This is because the mind is the only one that is exercised and not the physical body.
Nowadays, those with modern lifestyles have better qualities of life. Hence, it's far better to undergo regular exercise in order for you to avoid facing the various causes of obesity.
